First approach to habilities

Here i share a first approach to how the habilities will look in character sheets. Each hability will be divided in four parts as is showed in the next diagram.

1. Hability : It is the description of the hability itself.
2. Main Related Stat. : Is the stat related to the hability which will be added to the roll dice.
3. Hability value : Means the skill level of the character in an specific action. In the diagram example, that character have an hability of 4, then we go to see the value of the main stat (5 for example ) and add the two values having a final result of 9. If we have a difficulty of 15 for example, we must reach at least 15 in a roll dice plus 9, so we must have at least 6. I still have to decide how the stat value will be added.
4. Hability experience : (number of points here is still to be decided ). Success in roll dices is contabilized here. When all the circles are filled, we add one point to the hability and clear all this circles for the reaching the next hability point. How are this points gained ? Following the last example, if we success in the last roll dice, we will have 6 experience points for that hability. We dont add all the roll dice to make the same action more profitable in experience with low hability levels. Exceding points in a roll dice are discarted as is considered like an unnecesary effort to perfom the action and with the bigger difference between the hability and difficulty we get more experience gained in more difficulty roll dices.

Experience details , how to gain points and the moral (more like good luck or motivation , a sistem to have a bonus for roll dices when we have made continous succesfull actions ) will be explained in a post to explain roll dices.

Progress in Character sheets

I think i've reached a final conclussion for character sheets design. The Sheet will be general, and I will divide the habilities into basic habilities (like running, swimming,etc.. ) and particular ones depending on the ambience (shooting, computers, or even magic) .

How will look this on the character sheets? It will have the basic habilities printed on it (the general ones) and the remaing spaces will be blank to fill depending on the ambience, and with the habilities learned during the game.

A good thing for using the combined roll dices (stats + hability) is that you can allways try to make one action, but only using the main stat if you dont have the hability, and if you success you will gain a little experience that with the time will let you gain some point in a new hability for your character. ( I will explain that in more detail when i explain the experience in Corosys). You can also learn new skills training .

But appart from that when i create the main character sheet, i will create specific character sheets for some ambiences (futuristic, medieval, etc ) that could help you to play the game quickly.

New logo finished

The new Corosys logo has been finished.

You can see the result at the top of the blog and under this text a view of the evolution from paper to final design.

Comments about it are wellcome!

One Important thing... A logo to identify the project!

I think one important thing is to have something visual to identify the project, to give the people a quick first look of what you are working on. And thats what i did today. As COROSYS will have a great variety of environments, i designed a logo made by different styles. Its only a first approach, but i belive that to have a logo will be very helpfull for COROSYS to make it look more like something serious.

And here its the desing and the first progress on it.

PD: Sorry about the sketch, was made on printed paper to save some trees :-)

Today I start my own RPG ... COROSYS

There is one thing I feel i need to do from years, create my own rpg game, an old style rpg on paper, with it's own character sheets, it's own rules, etc...

I thought about it some years ago, when i played Lord of the rings, Vampire, and many other rpgs, and i had a lot of ideas that i would love to be in a game.

Now I am on the phase when im recollecting ideas, thinking, looking for things that i dont like in other games, looking for things i love in my favourites rpgs, etc..

I want first to create the rules, and after that I will create a couple of ambiences using them. My plans are to make a system that can be used for medieval, old, future and almost every kind of ambience.

I will post here my thoughs about the game, and when i have some parts post them here.
Some general ideas that i will use for sure are :

* Experience divided by habilities. i dont like when in some game for example you won experience with sowrds, and when you gain a level, you can upgrade your archery skills.

* Habilities dividided in main Stat + hability. For example, if some character has strength 10 and no hability with hammers, (10+0)  he will be probably do more damage than other character with 2 of strength and 2 of hammers (2+2). but ill make more important the skill points of course.

* Damage and armor divided by zones. I also preffer that when you receive damage in one hand that damage counts only for the hand (appart from the pain) . I dont see much realistic that if someone hits you ten times in your hand , you can be killed (games with general damage points) instead of loose that hand.

These are some of my ideas, and with them and lots more i expect to create a realistic and fun game. HOpe you enjoy it when it's ready.
